OPINION: Bearing arms might help to save innocent lives from killers

Unarmed churchgoers shot dead! Intruder empties weapon, reloads numerous times while members do nothing! WOW! Ban guns immediately!

Really? Let’s turn the tables on reality and look at this scenario from the point of view of how to prevent similar incidents.

A person walks into a church and starts shooting members of the congregation! Members draw their weapons and return fire! Intruder killed and end to a terrible situation. This scenario limits the violence and injuries to innocent people and properly gets rid of the problem.

Guns are not the problem in the U.S. but rather the people who are too timid to protect themselves. Look around and see how blindly the people are led into the destruction of our country by being too timid to do the right thing: Rioters go unpunished! How about armed shop owners subdue rioters and quickly end property damage and injury to innocent bystanders?

These are very tragic situations that set an example as to why proper handling of guns and self-defense need to be taught to all schoolchildren and concerned “legal citizens” of this country.

Burying your head in the sand does keep you from seeing what is happening all around you; however, when you raise your head back out of the sand, you will see the destruction and what you should have helped prevent!

Dig a big hole and start to rid this country of the criminal elements that cannot or will not be “saved.” Why allow repeat offenders, killers, terrorists, drug dealers, thieves, etc., to only rest in jail before being freed to continue evil on society? Look at the lives that will be saved when “positive” action is implemented by all.

Support your local law enforcement agencies and be thankful they care enough to endanger themselves daily for you and your family! What do you do for them in return?

Please do not wait for the government to help, as that did not work so well in Benghazi, did it? Timid people could have acted and stopped that as well! Educate the willing and eradicate the criminals! God save us all. —Ron Albrecht, Whitefish
