EUREKA — The Glacier Twins took two games from the Kootenai Valley Rangers on Tuesday, sweeping the American Legion doubleheader on the road by taking the opener 13-5 and the nightcap 7-1.

Both teams put the ball in play early in Game 1.

After a scoreless first inning, the Twins opened the second with two runs only for the Rangers to answer with one of their own in the bottom half.

The third and fourth innings saw both the Twins and Rangers push two runs across, and the score sat at 6-5.

Glacier would break through while Kootenai Valley lost pace.

The Twins scored seven runs in the final two innings, scoring three in the sixth before tallying four in their final at-bats.

While Glacier’s Tyler Murphy started the game on the mound for the Twins, striking out seven batters for the win, teammate Jesse Walburn came in for relief and shut out the Rangers the rest of the way.

The Twins slapped 13 hits.

Colten Parker and Tristin Steinwand each had three hits, while the Rangers’ Jacob Novakowski finished with a two-hit performance.

It was all Twins in Game 2.

Jonny Sapa allowed just one run in 5 1-3 innings, combining with reliever Vincent Smith for a three-hitter.

Glacier scored six runs throughout the first four innings of the nightcap.

Steinwand drove in three runs in the victory. Teammate Kyler Howke, who drove in four runs in the opener, had two RBIs in Game 2.

Both teams are back in action on Thursday for tournament play.

The Rangers head to Libby for the Big Bucks Tournament.

The Twins are hosting the Ed Gallo Wood Bat Tournament.
