The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received an unusual attempted break-in call from a Browns Gulch Road resident. A bear was evidently trying to get into a bedroom window and “being very aggressive.” A neighbor fired a shot into the air and scared off the intruder. Perhaps the bear was trying to get into some air conditioning.

A Holt Stage resident claimed that a plane was flying some 20 feet above houses. There was suspicion it was a crop duster.

Someone reported that a neighbor had a very loud sound system in his car, but the caller was afraid to talk to him.

Someone found a “small kids sleeping bag” and a suitcase full of toys near Bigfork. It seemed suspicious to the person.

A sport utility vehicle went into a ditch near South Hilltop Road, but the driver was not hurt. The vehicle was leaking something, however.

It’s hard to imagine how this was accomplished, but someone reported a young girl who made a rope swing off of a pickup. She was using it to jump into the water near Hungry Horse.

Someone witnessed two people arguing over which of them was “sober enough to drive” home from Foy’s Lake. One of them eventually took the wheel.

A Montana 35 resident told the Sheriff’s Office that he was “hiding under cover to keep an eye out” for a suspected trespasser. He was armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a pistol.

A Wisconsin Avenue resident’s children claimed that a neighbor was “staring” at them through an apartment window. The mother called the Whitefish Police Department to investigate. An officer tried to make contact with the person, but no one appeared to be home.

A Somers Avenue resident was hearing an alarm that sounded like birds chirping but was unsure why. It turned out to be a carbon monoxide detector that was low on battery power.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a call about a stolen cat from Seventh Avenue West. The cat owner said someone tore off a door or window screen to get inside, and she noted anecdotally that “the cat put up a struggle.”

A reported reckless driver was moving down the middle of Ninth Street West before pulling into an eatery for some pizza.

Emergency responders were dispatched late Friday afternoon to traffic accidents near Foy’s Lake and Old Steel Bridge near Kalispell
