Track: Whitefish's Marlow Schulz finishes 4th at USATF Junior Nationals
EUGENE, Ore. — St. John’s University freshman Marlow Schulz finished fourth in the junior women’s 800-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 10.33 seconds at the USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Running in 100-degree heat, Schulz, a former standout at Whitefish High School, helped push the pace, finishing the first lap with a split of 1:05.82 in a close third. She laid back on the backstretch as other runners made their push and overtook Ole Miss’ Brook Feldmeier at the finish line to finish in fourth place.
The time was the second of a fast weekend for Schulz. She set a personal best time of 2:09.45 in the preliminaries on Friday.
Oregon’s Raevyn Rogers, the 2015 NCAA outdoor champion, won the race by a large margin in 2:06.64 and Ruby Stauber, a Minnesota high school junior, finished second in 2:08.36. As the top two finishers, they will represent Team USA at the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Alberta on July 20-26.
