Legion baseball: Twins A, Twins B to meet for Gallo title
WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins B squad walked off with a 6-5 win in the bottom of the seventh against Olympia in the Ed Gallo Memorial Wood Bat American Legion baseball tournament at Memorial Park to earn a spot in the finals against the Twins A team.
With the bases loaded in the final frame, Kaleb Veneman took ball four for a walkoff walk to score Bryce Fagerland and win the game. Ryan Veneman earned the win on the mound.
The Twins took the early lead in the contest but had to fight back from a 5-3 hole to tie the game in the sixth.
The Glacier’s A and B teams will meet in the championship game at 1 p.m. today. The Twins A team won a game against the B’s in pool play 12-1.
Olympia beat the Glacier 15U All-Stars 11-3 earlier in the day.
Twins A pitcher AJ Wetsch, who graduated this spring from Whitefish High School, was awarded the annual $1,000 Ed Gallo Family scholarship on Friday night.

HELENA — The Kalispell Lakers took a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning at the Keith Sells American Legion baseball tournament on Saturday, but the Bozeman Bucks fought their way back — scoring seven runs in the inning before holding the Lakers scoreless in the seventh for an 8-6 victory.
Patrick O’Connell continued his Sells-tournament success at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. O’Connell has an extra-base hit in every game this tournament — five doubles in four contests.
Walker Malmin finished with two hits, Leif Erickson had two RBIs and Quinn Barber doubled for the Lakers, who scored six runs on 11 hits.
Tournament play concludes today.
