Law enforcement roundup

| March 3, 2015 7:59 PM

While going through her late grandfather’s possessions, a Columbia Falls woman found a stick of dynamite and a grenade. She asked the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office about disposing of the items. She said that her grandfather was in the Army and later worked at the Berkeley Pit. Deputies took care of the explosives.

A Rhodes Draw resident reported “no trespassing” signs stolen from his property. He told dispatch that the suspected thief left footprints in the snow that led directly to his neighbor’s house.

Apparently overcome by guilt, a man called authorities and let them know that he had a few beers. He added that it was a violation of his parole and asked to be arrested. A deputy advised him to contact his parole officer about revocation.

Strange phone calls were reportedly made to the daughter of a Crescent Drive resident, who called the Columbia Falls Police Department. The caller said it was a recording that said someone was following the daughter, and it ended with a “disturbing laugh.” Police called the source number and reached a 60-year-old woman who said that she installed an app that had “infected” her phone. The woman denied making the disturbing call.
