The Toole County coroner confirmed Tuesday that a Kalispell man convicted of a brutal double murder killed himself in prison.

Tyler Michael Miller, 38, died Sunday of apparent self-suffocation, according to Dan Whitted, the county coroner.

Whitted said Miller was in a cell by himself and was being checked every hour. At about 9:25 p.m., he was found unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the Marias Medical Center.

Miller was serving two life sentences at the Crossroads Correctional Center in Shelby.

He had pleaded guilty to killing his ex-girlfriend Jaimi Hurlbert, 35, and her daughter Alyssa Burkett, 15, on Christmas Day 2010.
