BOZEMAN — Two Gallatin County jail inmates being held on behalf of neighboring counties face charges alleging they attacked a detention officer in an attempt to escape while in the jail’s recreation area.

Jordan Crooked Foot, 24, and Jeffery Allen Daems, 22, face charges of assault on a peace officer and escape.

Prosecutors say surveillance video shows Crooked Foot throw a water bottle at an officer and tackle him on Feb. 23 before the officer disabled him with a stun gun. Court records say Daems acknowledged the attack was part of an escape plan.

Crooked Foot was jailed on Jan. 16, eight days after pleading guilty to raping a 15-year-old runaway in Lewis and Clark County. Sentencing is set for March 12. Daems was arrested on Feb. 3 and is being held for Park County authorities.
