Honoring her service to Flathead Valley Community College for nearly 40 years, Faith Hodges received the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award on Tuesday.

Hodges, who joined the young community college as a secretary in 1973, took it upon herself to gain an education and received an associate’s degree from the college, then two more degrees from the University of Montana.

Since she started at the college, Hodges had worked in 11 different positions and  earned several other awards, including the Eagle Award and the honor of dean emeritus.

“FVCC is such a great place,” Hodges said. “Without the education I got here, I would not have been able to do the things they just said.”

From secretary to project director and executive director of enrollment, Hodges has been a donor to the Flathead Valley Community College Foundation.

She also was responsible for starting the now-thriving intramural program at the school.
