West Valley School: Young scientists test their theories
<p><strong>Sixth-grader</strong> Jacob Keller explains his science project on burning calories to math teacher Brinn Romagnuolo at the West Valley Science Fair on Monday. Romangnuolo was looking through the projects specifically for students who had used math in their projects. </p>
<p><strong>MaKenna Hartle</strong>, a sixth-grader, explains her project that compared hydroponics with aquaponics at the West Valley Science Fair on Monday. Last year, Hartle did a comparison of soil and hydroponics. In both cases she found that hydroponics worked better within the restrictions of her test, which was limited to a three-month trial. Hartle won the Reserve award in sixth-grade biological science. </p>
A total of 170 West Valley School fourth- through eighth-graders competed in the school science fair Monday.
