GOP surrender on illegal amnesty could end party

| March 16, 2015 9:00 PM

Principled Republicans and Democrats alike took a stand against Obama’s illegal amnesty for millions as they know it will destroy our country, e.g., a welfare-based system has to have strong borders to keep out freeloaders.

Under Obama, Homeland Security’s task has been to assist millions of illegals (instead of turning them away) and help them get free medical care and earned income credit (billions of free tax dollars). Then relocate hordes of them to districts to turn it from Republican to Democrat, provide them Green Cards and driver’s licenses and register them to vote as Democrats.

A federal judge has ruled against Obama’s amnesty plan as “you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube,” e.g. can’t take citizenship away or demand repayment of billions in free tax dollars. A fully funded Homeland Security will now undercut this judge’s ruling by showing that Congress supports the unconstitutional action Obama took.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has donated over a billion dollars to Republicans and Democrats alike with the goal of amnesty for 25-plus million illegals in our country. Now wages for those in all careers from blue collar to professional will be depressed.

These large multinational corporations that make up the biggest donor group to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are responsible only to their stockholders. They care nothing about the United States or its workers. Principled Republicans and Democrats voted against the Chamber and its goals, which ironically are supported by both Republican congressional leaders, McConnell and Boehner, and a majority of Democrats.

Both Republican leaders and their supporters have paid homage to the massive amount of money contributed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and have joined with Democrats to support Obama’s illegal amnesty for millions of illegals. History will remember them as traitors to their country, political party and perhaps the destroyers of the Republican Party. —Norman W. Johnson, Polson
