Landlord finds lizards left behind

Landlord-tenant relations hit a boiling point when a person moved out of an Old Highway 2 East residence and left behind some lizards. The landlord called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after the tenant wanted to retrieve the lizards. The landlord was counseled.

A man wearing a “safari-type hat” was looking through vehicles along Harmony Road in Evergreen. One resident called the Sheriff’s Office about the activity. A deputy found the man, who apparently had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

A woman called because she suspected a man was making methamphetamine inside a luxury vehicle.

People around a Batavia Lane business were startled to see someone waving a gun around a vehicle. Deputies found the suspect and determined that it was a paintball gun.


Be careful with those controlled burns! The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a recreational fire that grew out of control on Fifth Avenue West. The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department took care of a grass fire on U.S. 93 South.

Flooding was reported by the Hungry Horse Fire Department on Second Street South in Martin City. Another flood on Lion Mountain Loop Road was assessed by the Whitefish Fire Department.


Census checks can be rough work, as one interviewer found out while going door-to-door. He went to the Whitefish Police Department to report a resident who “became slightly hostile” toward him. The worker recorded the exchange on his phone.


A pair of teenagers learned that they couldn’t just camp out anywhere, according to the Kalispell Police Department. The teens set up in the corner of a private lot on Third Avenue East. The property owner called the police, who advised the campers to move along.

Two people were reportedly smoking a bong in a parking lot along U.S. 93 North.

A truck was running for nine hours outside of a U.S. 93 South business, according to a caller. An officer arrived and found that the occupant was fine but sleeping.

Police found a car with three flat tires and the keys in the ignition on Old Reserve Drive. It was reported stolen earlier more than a mile away.

A woman told police that she lost one diamond earring last week. She didn’t know the specific spot where it went missing but assured officers that it was within the city limits.
