Employees at a U.S. 93 South hotel thought it was odd when someone called the front desk from an unrented room. When they went to check, the suspect had left on foot with a dog. The Kalispell Police Department caught up with the suspected room raider and cited him for theft.

An employee at a Heritage Way business said that someone would drive up quickly onto the parking lot curb, back up and do it again repeatedly. An officer counseled the driver about the odd behavior.

Police were called when someone spotted a person leaning against an East Idaho Street building. The caller said the property owners were concerned about vandalism and didn’t want people on the property.

A woman told police that she locked herself in an Airport Road bathroom because she thought some people outside were going to beat her up. She eventually called a family member to get her.

Some kids reportedly stole a football and were throwing it at cars near Third Avenue West.

A purse was stolen on West Idaho Street and no daring hero was on hand to tackle the perpetrator. 

An elderly man entered a West Idaho Street business after his car apparently broke down. He could not speak but wrote his name. After an officer checked on the man, the business manager gave him a ride home.

With a wayward raccoon in the garage, a Sylvan Court resident called police and asked for someone who “deals with these things.” By the time such a specialized person could be reached, the resident said that raccoon was out of the garage.

A woman reportedly tried to get a free hotel stay at a U.S. 93 South business. After the employee refused, the woman was seen revving the engine of a sports car in an adjacent parking lot. She was later seen standing on the hood of her car yelling at other hotel patrons. Police advised her not to do those things.

Someone found a bicycle laying near North Meridian Road next to what appeared to be a “blood stain.” An officer said it appeared to be a red-tinted soft drink.

Police received a report of a suspicious woman walking around Third Avenue East. When an officer arrived, the mystery woman said she was just getting some air after an argument and was waiting for a ride.

Someone reported that a lawn-care truck was pulling a trailer that spilled gravel all over the road. An officer found the vehicle and noted that the load was properly covered with a tarp.

A driver drove a sport utility vehicle into the side of a North Main Street building. The driver attributed the mishap to a foot slipping off the brake pedal.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested someone for DUI on U.S. 93 and Jocko Road. The same charge was given in a separate case at the scene of a crash on U.S. 93 and Ravalli Hill. A third DUI was given after another crash on Sixth Street West and 22nd Avenue, this time with the assistance of the Polson Police Department. 

Another DUI, the fourth for the day, came at a traffic stop on Montana 35.

A woman called the Whitefish Police Department to thank officers for “keeping her on the right side of the grass.” 

No skin was broken in a reported dog bite at the Whitefish City Beach. A citation was issued to the dog’s owner.

Someone apparently lit a fire on the foot bridge that runs over the Whitefish River. It created a small hole in the bridge, though not large enough for anyone to fall through.

A man reportedly relieved himself in the grass before strolling into a Baker Avenue business. 

Reports of credit card theft were given to the Columbia Falls Police Department for further investigation.

A girl told police that she saw her older sister get into a car with people who were using marijuana and drinking beer.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of “14 hound dogs” barking al the time on Log Cabin Lane. Animal control arrived to find just nine dogs and noted they could be heard howling a half-mile away.

The as-yet-unidentified thief of a car stereo had to scale a six-foot fence to gain entry to a lot on U.S. 2 near Kalispell, according to one report.

An ongoing domestic dispute on Nicholson Drive included a report of a woman throwing a bed frame at a man’s car.

A woman was reported to be staying at a U.S. 93 KOA, though she wasn’t a registered guest. The campground had her removed for lack of payment.

Residents of Bell Street were having a fence fracas, according to a report. One person reported that the neighbors were flicking cigarettes over the fence and causing damage with a plow.

Two goats were “on the lam” near Conrad Drive, but authorities were able to get them back into their yard.

The payload from a gravel truck reportedly struck a windshield with damaging force. One driver pulled over with the truck driver on Many Lakes Drive to exchange a few words.

Someone told the Sheriff’s Office that a passenger in a pickup brandished a handgun near Zimmerman Road. Deputies responded to search for the suspect vehicle.

A passer-by came upon a distressed-looking vehicle near a county fishing access. Its doors were open, the steering column was torn apart and the tail lights were broken. The registered owner reportedly said the vehicle was recently sold.

Deputies found three kids who had been reported missing earlier in the day by a concerned aunt. The children were playing in the river near Columbia Falls.

A man told an Edgewood Drive resident that he was with the county and would paint the curb. He did so and then came back to resident to demand $40, according to a report. 

Deputies stepped in before Brunner Road residents reached for their guns in a neighborhood dispute.

A driver parked a car on Nicholson Drive for the night, only to arrive the next morning to find it missing.
