Online giving event aims to raise $100,000

 A 24-hour online giving event gets underway Tuesday in the Flathead Valley with the goal of raising $100,000 for local nonprofit organizations.

“Give Local Flathead — A Fiesta for Philanthropy” is open until midnight Tuesday.

Donations will be accepted for local nonprofit organizations online (www.givelocalflathead.org) and at the Fiesta of Philanthropy from 8 a.m. to midnight at the Hampton Inn in Kalispell. 

There will be live music, refreshments, gift basket drawings and entertainment at the Hampton Inn.  

The Flathead Community Foundation and United Way, along with several sponsors, are organizing the fundraiser.

The goal is to raise $100,000.

“Give Local Flathead is an opportunity for everyone in our community to give where we live,” said Lucy Smith, executive director of Flathead Community Foundation. 

“Our nonprofit organizations are there for us 24/7, 365 days a week. On May 5 we have 24 hours to celebrate and thank them in a big way.”
