The next generation is in good hands

Imagine a group of sixth-graders coming together to create a fundraiser for a sick child of one of their teachers. Imagine cupcakes and cookies being made and brought in by students. Imagine posters covering walls and students walking with them in the halls at Kalispell Middle School. 

This wasn't something to imagine. This was something that occurred this last week at KMS. This took three weeks of diligent and enthusiastic planning, plus a lot of heart to organize. Many of the kids didn't even know the little boy they were helping. They just knew they wanted to help.

Many times in the media, we don't acknowledge the amazing kids we have going to our public schools. We hear about a few "tough ones" and conclude, wrongfully so, that this represents all of them. We have amazing kids roaming our halls every day. I have the opportunity to see these kids work hard daily, do the right thing, and push others to do the same.

It is with hearts filled with gratitude that we say "Thank You!" to a group of sixth-graders who stepped up and a student body that followed. We have been blessed by your kindness and generosity. —Lori Huestis, Kalispell
