Swap meet, car show roll Saturday

The Glacier Street Rod Association’s sixth annual swap meet and car show is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Raceway Park on U.S. 93 north of Kalispell at mile marker 120.

The car show is open to any year of vehicle. Registration forms are available at most area auto part stores and at the gate.

The swap meet features all kinds of auto parts, tools and “big boys” toys. Swap spaces are available for $15; vehicles that are being sold cost $10 each.

General admission is $1 or canned goods for the Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry.

School leaders featured at forum

ACT! for America invites the public to attend its next meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Sykes’ in the downstairs meeting room.

The program will be a panel discussion among several Flathead County school superintendents. Topics will include school curricula, textbooks and the potential Muslim influence in local schools. The discussion will be moderated followed by a question and answer session. No reservations are required.

C. Falls ImagineIF getting updated

On Monday, May 18, visitors to ImagineIF Columbia Falls will find a number of updates and changes in the library.

The library will be closed Saturday, May 16, to allow for painting and furniture moving.

The updates are a step toward a more welcoming, versatile and interactive library.

These changes include fresh paint, an updated children’s space with new toys, interactive equipment, new shelving for popular areas such as holds and Grab-n-Go, and a new service desk.

 The long-term goal is to provide a fun, hands-on experiences for children, convenient services and spaces for adults, a separate nook just for teens and efficient work spaces for staff.

 Volunteers are needed to assist with painting Saturday. Anyone interested should contact April Vomfell at 758-2445.

‘Colors for a Cause’ Fun Run planned May 17

Whitefish Credit Union’s junior board of directors will host a “Colors for a Cause” 5K Fun Run at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Kidsports Complex on Four Mile Drive in Kalispell.

This free and family-friendly event will benefit the Abbie Shelter, the primary service provider for victims of domestic and sexual violence in the Flathead Valley.

Runners, walkers, skippers and joggers are welcome. At various points along the route, volunteers will coat participants with nontoxic dye in every color of the rainbow as they go by.

Cabela’s to honor Hometown Heroes

Cabela’s in Kalispell will hold a Hometown Heroes celebration in conjunction with Memorial Day from Thursday, May 14, through Sunday, May 17.

All active military and veterans, law enforcement, firefighters and emergency services personnel will be offered discount pricing on in-store purchases.

A valid military ID, badge or other proof of eligibility must be presented at the time of purchase to receive the discount.
