Late-night cowboys needed in south Kalispell

Someone called the Kalispell Police to report a half-dozen horses running toward Kalispell near the U.S. 93 bypass at 2 a.m. They were eventually returned to the owner.

There was some blockage at the U.S. 93- Meridian Road intersection following a car accident. One of the drivers reportedly lacked insurance.

A Costco-brand bicycle was stolen from West Washington Street.

Stereo equipment was stolen out of a car on U.S. 93 South, according to a report. The owner had just recently purchased the car. The thief also siphoned some gasoline from the tank.

A 17-year-old said that his little brother fired a BB gun at him. He later backed down from the story and said that the brother accidentally fired the gun in his general direction.

A 12th Avenue West resident told police that neighbors connected an extension cord to his or her house. The resident told police that the neighbor’s power had been recently shut off.

Somehow, a motorcycle belonging to a Bigfork resident was left at a Kalispell business after the owner had left for the military.

A scammer told a First Avenue East resident that her son was in jail and she needed to send $10,000 to bail him out. The resident sent the money before calling police.

Police were unable to locate a suspicious ATV rider who was stopping and looking into garages near East Nicklaus Avenue.

Police checked on a man who was described as “not lucid” at a First Avenue West business. He was reportedly drunk and a friend picked him up.

A report of a suspicious person driving through neighborhood near North Belmar Drive turned out to be a newspaper deliverer.

Drug paraphernalia was found inside of a recently reclaimed vehicle.

One caller was upset because dispatch put him on hold to assist a 911 ambulance call. The angry caller was just reporting a set of lost keys.


West Valley Fire and Rescue responded to a call about a man whose foot got caught in a grain auger near Church Drive. The foot was reported as “mangled,” but not detached.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a suspicious man who entered a Village Lane business and tried to sell “fresh frozen” meat at “super deal” prices.

A Montana 35 resident’s vehicle fell victim to gravel in the gas tank and loosened lug nuts at the hands of vandals.

A resident of Patriot Way told the Sheriff’s Office that she had to chase five dogs off of her yard, as they tended to attack her chickens.

A woman threatened to trap and kill cats belonging to a U.S. 93 resident near Lakeside, according to a call.

A resident of the county jail allegedly called a Kalispell fast food restaurant to accuse somebody of money laundering. 

The city of Whitefish was having ongoing problems with people partying and causing damage at a trailhead near Delrey Road.

In another suspected scam, a Montana 40 resident received a call in which somebody claimed the resident had pending criminal charges. The Sheriff’s Office checked the records and found the resident to be clean.

When a man asked the driver of a large pickup to slow down on Veteran Drive, the driver reportedly responded with some unkind language. Deputies searched for the foul-mouthed offender.

A landlord told the Sheriff’s Office that when he confronted a tenant on Flathead Drive, he was met with a gun.

A man reportedly walked into a Montclair Drive business and tried to pose as an employee.


The Polson Police Department made an arrest for criminal contempt following a traffic stop on Main Street.


Two high school students — one with a screwdriver — nearly got into a fight, according to a call to the Whitefish Police Department. Officers helped cool down the situation.

A woman told police that someone was “standing behind the bushes” while she was camping in her back yard. The woman thought it was an officer. She wanted police to be aware that she “has her antennae up” and is disappointed.

Someone apparently called all Whitefish officers and told them that “something is rotten in Denmark.”

A possible disturbance on Central Avenue turned out to be an “intense romantic discussion.” All was deemed OK.
