License left in police cruiser

A man called the Whitefish Police Department to ask if they had his driver’s license. He had been arrested the night before and thought the card may have slipped out in the back of the police cruiser. The department called the man back and said his wife could come pick it up whenever they wanted.

A Spokane Avenue resident angrily called the police demanding to see his cat. Apparently, a Whitefish Police officer had picked up the man’s deceased cat the night before and the caller felt he had a right to make sure it was his. The dispatcher saw no record of a cat — alive or dead — being picked up the night before. The officer in question found the carcass at the city shop.

A caller from Costa Rica called to report he had found a man’s personal information deep in a ravine in the central American country. He wanted to make sure the Whitefish resident was OK and if there was some way he could send back the identification.

A Lupfer Avenue resident said he heard someone scale the wall of a building and cavort on top of it. The imposter Spiderman was nowhere to be found when an officer arrived to investigate.

A bar-goer came out to his car to find a stranger rifling through the vehicle. The man called police and was quite upset about the situation.

Security at a bar on U.S. 93 called for backup in removing drunken Canadians from the premises. They were escorted to their hotel.


A concerned woman called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a small child left seemingly unattended in the middle of the road near a blind corner. The child was returned to his mother and no report was filed.

A Crescent Circle woman called police to report a domestic dispute and a underage male who was allegedly drunk and abusive. The instigators left during the phone call, so the woman said “nevermind” and hung up the phone.


The Kalispell Fire Department was called for a hazardous materials spill on U.S. 2 at 3:36 p.m.
