Pamela Ann Magers, 59

The world is not quite as beautiful a place today after the passing of Pamela Ann Magers of Bigfork.

Pam passed away May 15 in Kalispell due to complications from an almost 20-year struggle with rheumatoid arthritis.

Pam was born on Halloween, 1955, in Longview, Texas. Halloween was the biggest holiday of the year for her and her family and usually spent time somewhere special. She received frequent requests from her friends to “ride her broom” over to see them. The Halloween jokes were a constant source of humor for us all.

Pam grew up in Moore, Oklahoma. She attended Moore High School, the University of Oklahoma and continued her advanced education in Gainesville, Florida. She worked as a paralegal, a Realtor and was an owner of one of the largest manufacturer’s representative companies in the U.S.

Pam’s all too short life was full of the things she enjoyed but most important were travel and fishing trips. From peacock bass in Hawaii, to marlin in Mexico to piranha in Brazil, Pam caught them all. But probably her favorite quarry was steelhead. The book “Striking Steelhead” was dedicated to her 25 years of drift boat fishing and over a thousand steelhead landed. Europe and the Caribbean were memorable trips. But her favorite place on earth was Kauai where she ventured at least a dozen times. It is only fitting that the Garden Isle serve as her final resting place. Pam lived her bucket list.

Pam is survived by her husband, Dan of Bigfork; her two beautiful daughters, Ginger Magers of Whitefish, and Heather Dawson of Boise, Idaho; and three of four grandchildren who relished summer visits to the mountains to see their Pammy.

Pam’s struggle with rheumatoid arthritis was made much easier by the incredible care and friendship of Dr. Bernadette Van Beloise in Kalispell.

Last of all, Pam’s final hours were made comfortable and her husband’s sanity preserved by the amazing ICU staff at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Dr. Keeton, nurse Pam and nurse Amanda were beyond caring, helpful and professional.

Simple pleasures and beautiful memories are enough to sustain us in moments like these.
