Ethelyn Genevieve Mustard Fergerson, 84

| May 22, 2015 7:00 PM

Ethelyn Genevieve Mustard Fergerson entered this world on June 20, 1930, and left this world peacefully May 21, 2015, from complications of dementia.

She was the second child of six born to Lyle and Irma Mustard in Denton, Montana. When she was six, the family moved to Trego where she attended grade school and later high school in Eureka.

Through mutual friends she met her future husband, Neal Fergerson. They married in June of 1948. They spent a brief period of time in Eureka before moving to Kalispell. Ethelyn remained in Kalispell after Neal passed away in 1980, where she spent nearly 64 years. They had four daughters, Bonnie Fergerson of Missoula, Carol Hedges and Les of Missoula, Lyla Dowler and Jeff of Missoula and Jayne Bertelsen and Tom of Whitefish.

Ethelyn took the responsibility of mother very seriously. She was a caring, nurturing parent that put her family before all else.  She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing all her daughter's clothes, as well as, the clothes for all their dolls. To her many friends and family she was the most selfless, caring person.

She worked seasonally at the Cherry Warehouse and Snowline Tree Company. She was very proud of the years that she served as a foster grandparent listening to children read at Peterson School. Ethelyn was an avid reader herself and was happy to help children become bookworms.

In 2012, Ethelyn moved to Missoula for health reasons. She leaves behind her four daughters; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters and two brothers.

Ethelyn requested to be cremated. A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, June 27, at 119 Bear Trail, Whitefish from 2 to 5 p.m. The contact phone number is 406-360-5597.
