Edwin Lloyd Speelman, 75

Edwin Lloyd Speelman, 75, passed peacefully at his home in Evergreen, on May 8, 2015.

He was born in Bozeman May 18, 1939, the first of two children, to John and Anne Speelman, immigrants form Holland. The family moved to Kalispell in 1947.

He graduated from Flathead County High School in 1957 and Montana School of Mines in Butte in 1961. He then moved to Ontario, Canada, to pursue his lifelong passion of geological engineering.

Ed returned to Evergreen in 1995 to be with his father in the latter’s declining years.

Continuing his prospector life, he joined the Rocky Mountain Prospectors’ Club and was also a member of the Ashley Lake Landowners’ Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anne Speelman.

He is survive by his brother, Gene R. Speelman.

A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Central School Museum.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Prospector’s Club or the Ashley Lake Landowners’ Association.
