Helen passed away on  May 22, 2015, at her home in the Buffalo Hill Terrace in Kalispell.

Helen was born on Nov. 12, 1918, in Hogeland, the sixth child of Charles and Flora Olson. Helen was born on Armistice Day, thus her second middle name of Peace. She graduated in 1936 from Hogeland High School. Following graduation, Helen attended Northern Montana College and then went to work for her brother Walter’s company, Valley Motor Supply in Havre, as a billing and price clerk.

It was there at work that Helen met her husband and life partner, Edwin “Bud” Myhre. They were married on Sept. 20, 1941, in Havre. Helen’s husband enlisted in the Air Force and served during World War II. After her husband’s military service they headed west to settle in Kalispell.

After a few years Helen and Bud purchased and opened Bud’s Fountain Lunch, located in the Kalispell Intermountain Bus Depot. Helen prepared the lunch specials and specialty pies from their home. They later sold the business. Helen then became a secretary at the Kalispell Junior High School. Helen worked for many years at the junior high, where she loved being involved with the students.

Following Helen’s retirement in 1984, she and her husband moved to their home on Flathead Lake near Lakeside. Following her husband’s death, Helen lived at Buffalo Hill Terrace with her calico cat Winnie.

Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Kovacich of Lakeland, Florida, and her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Connie Myhre of  Helena. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Anna Kovacich of Orlando, Florida, Amanda Kovacich Valenti and husband Doug Valenti of Tampa, Florida, and Timothy Kovacich of San Jose, California.

Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn; her husband, Bud; her four brothers, Walter, Lester, Alton and Harris; and her sister, Ardys.
