Student driver gets off to rocky start

Kalispell Police were called to U.S. 2, where a student driver had started his or her driving examination off with a bang by hitting a parked Subaru.

A woman on Fifth Avenue East said she asked that her mail be put on hold but a postal snafu resulted in a package being delivered Monday anyway. When the woman came home she found that the package had been stolen.

Two girls in the parking lot of a hotel said that a report of five women throwing bottles in the area was unfounded. One of the girls dropped a bottle and it caused a verbal disagreement with the other girl. The girls cleaned the mess up.

A 17-year-old boy at a residence on U.S. 93 called for help after ingesting marijuana that was suspected to have been laced with something other than marijuana.


Whitefish Police officers responded to Baker Avenue and found that all was OK after a man and a woman were in a drunken verbal disagreement. The man said that the disagreement was over where a group of friends was going to sleep. The man called back around 10 minutes later asking that another man be escorted off the premises. He said the woman was not letting him sleep at his residence. The woman called back 20 minutes later asking that the man she had been arguing with be removed from the residence. An officer found that everything was OK and cleared the scene, but the woman called back three more times in the next half-hour, claiming that the man needed a mental health evaluation, had post-traumatic stress disorder, was throwing things around the house, and yelling. An officer spoke to the man over the phone and found that everything was fine.

A woman on Scott Avenue was grateful to have a wallet full of coupons returned after a man called to report that he saw an unattended purse beneath a bench in the park on his way to work. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the wallet.

Tools were stolen from a vehicle parked in a grocery store parking lot on Fairway Drive.

A construction worker at a site on U.S. 93 had his cellphone stolen as he worked.


Columbia Falls Police gave a woman a ride home after she hit another vehicle and mailboxes on 13th Street East North.

An officer found that a woman had been sent away from a residence on Martha Road after a neighbor reported a suspected fight in the area.
