CLASS B FOOTBALL: Bigfork leads 7B with three on all-state team

Conference champion Bigfork placed three players on the Class B all-state team and Troy’s Sean Opland was selected for the third straight year as both all-state and all-conference selections were announced Monday.
Bigfork won District 7B for the seventh straight year, and a pair of Vikings offensive lineman were rewarded with all-state selections. Austin Pacheco and Russel Goeden both nabbed first team all-conference and all-state honors.
Joining Pacheco and Goeden is quarterback Jonathan Landon, who took over the starting job this year from the highly-decorated Josh Sandry, now a safety at the University of Montana. Landon was first team all-conference as a quarterback and defensive back, accounting for 22 offensive touchdowns.
Opland, a Montana State commit, made the move to quarterback this fall and posted a third straight year of enormous numbers. The senior ran for 1,419 yards in eight games, threw for another 434 and accounted for 21 touchdowns. Opland was named first team all-conference at three different positions — running back, linebacker and returner.
Eureka junior James Dunn was the only non-senior from 7B to be picked for the all-state team. A linebacker and tight end, Dunn hauled in more than 40 passes this season.
Thompson Falls senior wide receiver Trais Hoisington rounded out the 7B all-state picks after a season in which he turned seven of his 26 receptions into touchdowns. Hoisington was named all-conference as a wide receiver, defensive back and punter.
Bigfork led with 10 first team all-conference selections. Thompson Falls had nine, Eureka five and Troy three.
