Golf: Avery, Mann, Keenan lead way at AA state golf tournament
HELENA — Golfers from Glacier and Flathead had the best individual scores on the opening day of the Class AA state tournament at Bill Roberts Golf Course on Thursday.
Two-time defending state champion Teigan Avery of Glacier posted a 1-over 73 to top the leaderboard on the girls side.
Catrina Babinecz of Great Falls High is one shot back, followed by Hayden Flohr of Billings West, who had the third best total with a 76.
Tom Mann of Glacier used a 3-under 69 to put him in front of the boys field.
Ryan Keenan of Flathead is tied for second with his 70 along three other golfers.
Billings West is first in boys team play with a 290. Billings Skyview is second and 10-shots back.
Glacier, 305, is fourth.
Flathead, 309, is eighth.
In the girls team race, Great Falls High, 329, is first. Glacier, 337, is second and Flathead, 399, is 10th.
