Girl suffers minor injury when struck by vehicle

A 14-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in front of St. Matthew’s School in Kalispell Thursday morning, apparently after jogging out in front of traffic.

Kalispell Police Senior Sgt. Allen Bardwell said that, according to witnesses, the girl was wearing earbuds while jogging and crossed from the east side of Main Street into traffic. The county dispatch center received the call at 7:56 a.m.

“I appears at this time, [she has] minor injuries but she was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center by ambulance,” Bardwell said, adding that she didn’t appear to have any broken bones or serious injuries. “But she’s going to have a big bruise on her thigh tomorrow.”

He didn’t expect the police department would file any charges against the 20-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck the girl.
