Edna Eleanor (Nelson) Baarson, 97

Edna Eleanor (Nelson) Baarson passed away in Wenatchee, Washington on Jan. 15, 2015, at the age of 97.

Edna is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald K Baarson, her loving daughter Lynn Ellen Romstad and siblings; Hans, George, Thelma, Myrtle, Gordon, Laura, Ellen, and Dorothy.

Edna is lovingly remembered and survived by her two sons, Douglas of Chelan, Washington, and Gregory of Phoenix, Arizona, and her grandson, Vincent of Phoenix.

Edna was born in Kalispell, Montana, on March 6, 1917, graduated from Flathead County High School in 1935 and went on to earn a teaching certificate from normal college in 1937. Edna stayed in Montana, where she taught school for three years.

She married Donald Baarson June 14, 1941. During World War II, the couple lived in Alabama and South Carolina while Donald attended the U.S. Army’s navigator training for B-17s. Edna and Donald lived in the Seattle area for many years and after Don’s passing, Edna continued to live in the home they had shared. She retired from the Seattle Public Library in 1979, working there for 20 years. After leaving the Seattle area, Edna moved to Santa Clarita, California where she lived for several years, before moving to Wenatchee.

Edna was an avid walker and enjoyed and practiced yoga well into her 80s. She also was an avid reader.

A service of remembrance will be held at C. E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, on October 5, 2015, with Pastor Kirk Rau officiating. Interment will follow the ceremony.
