THOMPSON FALLS — Bryn Morley and Anya Young ran away from the field to lead Bigfork to a dominating team win at the Western B cross country divisional meet at River’s Bend Golf Course on Thursday.

The Valkyries finished with 27 points, easily outpacing Eureka’s 55. Bigfork runners finished first, second, third and fifth, with Morley — who finished second only to her sister, Makena, at the state championship last year — finishing in 18:49 to earn the win. Young was second in 19:13, more than a minute ahead of another Bigfork runner, Alicia Kalenak (20:33). Libby’s Lauren Thorsten was fourth in 20:35 and the Valkyries’ Matty McAnally, was fifth (20:39).

In the boys event, Ronan and Thompson Falls were the top two teams with the Chiefs eking out the title by three points by placing all five of its scoring runners in the top 13.

Eureka’s Jamie Goode won the race in 16:52, with Ronan’s Jackson Duffey (17:04) second.

Thompson Falls had the next two finishers, Daniel McDonald (17:15) and Justin Gustafson (17:21). Eureka’s Brian Sturdevant was fifth in 17:22.
