The proprietors of Westcraft Homes closed a deal on Oct. 8 securing the ownership of Silverbrook Estates at the north end of Kalispell.

Marvin Galts, owner of Westcraft Homes, said he was excited to have another subdivision for his company to offer to new homeowners in the Flathead Valley.

Silverbrook’s name will not change.

“The reality is that this is a premier subdivision,” Galts said. “We’re ready to capitalize on this and take it to the next step.”

Howard Mann, project manager at Silverbrook Estates, came to Galts in April looking for a new owner of the subdivision because Silverbrook owner Alfred Mann (Howard’s father) was ready to step away from the development industry.

Silverbrook features hundreds of lots on 325 acres along U.S. 93 near the Church Drive intersection.

Westcraft Homes is operated by Galts, his wife, Chloe, his son Bruce and daughter Brenda Wilkins. The company has built homes in two subdivisions, Whisper Village in Columbia Falls and Northlands in Kalispell.

The next step at Silverbrook includes breaking ground on a handful of new homes this fall, in hopes of having a model home and a few available houses ready by spring. Construction is planned to continue through the winter, according to Wilkins.

“We’re thrilled to continue the vision that the Mann family had for this development,” Wilkins said. “When looking at the future it’s important for us to stay true to that vision.”

Galts will keep the Silverbrook Real Estate staff on hand, including Larry Sartain, broker for the development, and Ron and Brenda Profitt, Realtors at Silverbrook Real Estate. Howard Mann will stay with Silverbrook as a consultant. The two-man maintenance crew will also be kept on board.

There are 202 building lots still available in Silverbrook’s Phase I, where 83 homes already have been built. In Phase II, 202 more homes are planned as well as a neighborhood commercial area in the northeast corner of the development.

Mann said the development group hopes to attract banks, restaurants and a small grocery store.

Silverbrook also has 4.5 miles of trails.

Galts said ideally, Phase I would continue to move forward with a basement going in every few weeks. While Westcraft will bring in a few different builders to finish constructing homes in Phase I, other builders are invited to begin developing lots.

“We want to have a hand in creating neighborhoods that advance the lifestyle of the Flathead Valley,” Wilkins said.

Galts said home prices will remain similar to those before the change in ownership, ranging from $300,000 up to $1 million.

The eastern side will contain the less expensive homes while west-side properties will be more elaborate.
