Girls soccer: Hellgate ends Glacier's season in overtime
MISSOULA — Glacier got on the board first but couldn’t hold on late in a Class AA girls soccer play in game on Tuesday at Missoula Hellgate, falling 2-1 in the second overtime session. The loss marked the end of the season for the Wolfpack (1-10-2).
Ellie Stevens put the Wolfpack on the board in the 49th minute to break a scoreless tie. It was answered soon after, however, when Hellgate’s Addy Scott scored three minutes later to knot the game at 1-1.
In overtime, the teams played a scoreless first 10 minutes and were headed to a shootout, when Knights junior Georgia Kazemi buried a goal in the 92nd minute to break the tie and send Hellgate to a victory.
The Knights held the edge in shots on goal, topping Glacier 12-10. Glacier had four corner kicks to Hellgate’s two, and Wolfpack keeper Amy Braig made 10 saves.
Hellgate, the sixth seed in Western AA, will play at third-seeded Missoula Big Sky on Thursday in a second play-in game to determine a bid into the state tournament.
