Woman asks if she can shoot horses

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded after a woman called to ask if she was allowed to shoot her own horses located on Bald Rock Road. The woman said the horses had been on her property for two years and the previous owner had never paid for boarding the animals or returned to claim them.

A person called to report that a relative had found a tombstone in a garbage container off Lakeside Road. The person worried the tombstone may have been stolen.

A woman on Sixth Street West in Hungry Horse called for help after a truck revved, startled her, and caused her to miss the target she had been shooting in her yard with a BB gun. Instead of her target, she hit the windshield of a passing vehicle. Despite offering to pay for damages, the man was very upset with the woman and hold her that she “was dead.” Deputies logged a report.

A person on Gleneagles Trail asked for extra patrol because young people had driven through the neighborhood twice and thrown rocks at construction workers. Street lamps had also been broken and graffiti was found on an entrance sign.

An AR-15 was stolen via the side window of a pickup truck on U.S. 2.

Health officials checked in with the victim of a raccoon bite on Kolney Drive in Kalispell.


Kalispell Police logged a report after a man tried to turn in a counterfeit $50 bill at a business on U.S. 93. An officer investigated and was able to arrest a suspect who had an outstanding warrant for dangerous drugs.

A woman came and took over driving after a caller reported that a man was driving in a shopping center parking lot off U.S. 93. The man gave the reporting party a thumbs-up although his eyes were rolling around in his head. He allegedly hit a pole, parked against a bush and narrowly missed a power pole.

A black-and-blue mountain bike was stolen from First Avenue East.

A person called to report that a man and three children were panhandling with signs on Hutton Ranch Road. The party was concerned that the children might get hit by a car. An officer said that the children were far enough away from the road that he was not worried about the children, though he intended to double-check the scene after some time had passed.

Officers responded to a disturbance on East Idaho Street where someone allegedly tried to ram a car into a motel room as part of a dispute. There was no property damage found.

A counterfeit $10 bill was caught by a business on U.S. 93.

A man told dispatchers that he was injured after he was thrown from an unidentified person’s truck and that he was in a fight with his drunken girlfriend on Whitefish Stage Road, but then told an officer that he had made the whole thing up and left the scene.

A man was knocked out in a bar fight on Airport Road. The bar manager reported that the fight included five people. Four left the scene before law enforcement arrived in a pickup truck. The victim tried to leave the scene on foot after he regained consciousness. He refused an ambulance and was told to call officers if he wanted to press charges.

A woman was trespassed from a business on Hutton Ranch Road and then was reported to have stuck a key into the ignition of a Pontiac Grand Prix that was parked near by. The owner of the car had to get a ride home because they could not use the vehicle.

A person reported that a child was riding on an adult’s lap as a pickup truck traveled on Heritage Way. The investigating officer found that the child was properly restrained. The adult had briefly removed the child from the seat in order to deal with a stray spider.


Whitefish Police responded to a report on Wisconsin Avenue where a couple were fighting. The man allegedly made a threat that he wanted to stab someone with a knife, but no knife was ever produced. Officers separated the parties, who had been in another similar dispute a week earlier.

A 14-year-old boy was taken to detention after he got into a fist fight with his mother on Colorado Avenue.


Columbia Falls Police were told that a soon to be ex-husband was the suspected culprit after a wife found oil in her gas tank and the valve stem cut off her tire. Officers made a call and determined that the call was unfounded.

A representative for the U.S. Geologic Survey reported that a streamflow station on Talbot Road had been broken into and vandalized.
