Glacier spikers net sweep on trip to Helena

HELENA — Glacier completed a successful trip Saturday to the Queen City of the Rockies by knocking off Helena High 19-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-10, 15-12 in a Western AA match on Saturday afternoon.

Glacier dumped Helena Capital on Friday.

Abi Fiske had 13 of Glacier’s 48 kills and three blocks along with Taylor Salonen.

“I was pretty happy with our effort,” Glacier coach Christy Harkins said. “They showed a lot of determination today.”

Glacier (13-10 overall, 3-7 league) hosts Missoula Hellgate on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Flathead 3, Capital 1

HELENA — Fourth-ranked Flathead bounced back from Friday’s loss to beat Helena Capital 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19 in a Western AA match.

Alyssa Wisher led the Bravette net game with 17 kills. The team totaled 51. Tiana Johnson had nine blocks. Flathead had 15 for the match.

Jourdon Schultz finished with 24 of Flathead’s 102 digs.

Flathead (9-2, 15-6) wraps up regular-season action on Saturday at home with Missoula Big Sky at 4 p.m.

WHITEFISH — Whitefish made quick work of Libby and Stevensville in Class A nonconference volleyball play.

The Bulldogs topped Libby 25-18, 25-7, 25-19 and Stevensville 25-19, 25-10, 25-10.

These matches were the first at home all season for WHS. The team had to play away matches earlier because the gym floor was being redone.

“It was a good day,” WHS coach Jackie Fuller said.

“I’m real happy with the girls. They are getting better and better every day.”

Whitefish is back in action on Tuesday at home for a Northwestern A contest with Frenchtown.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls was in control in both nonconference outings, stopping Stevensville 25-14, 25-16, 25-9 and besting Libby 25-8, 25-16, 21-25, 25-9.

“Our hitting percentage was great,” Columbia Falls coach Jessy Matthews said of the match with Stevensville.

“Through the roof.”

Against Libby, the Wildkats experimented with a few things and still were successful.

Columbia Falls has a Northwestern A match on Thursday at Polson.
