Volleyball roundup: Flathead falls, Glacier wins in Helena

HELENA — In a matchup of Western AA volleyball powers, Helena High knocked off fourth-ranked Flathead, downing the Bravettes 19-25, 25-19, 25-27, 25-11, 15-12 on Friday afternoon.

Helena (13-8 overall, 7-3 league) dominated play at the net with 51 kills and 15 blocks.

Flathead (14-6, 8-2) had 45 kills and eight blocks. Tiana Johnson led the Bravettes in kills with 14. Xio Lopp had 39 assists and six blocks.

Flathead defeated Helena back on Sept. 19 in Kalispell, 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-27,15-10.

Flathead plays at Helena Capital today 1 p.m. The Bravettes concluded regular-season action Oct. 31 at home with Missoula Big Sky.

Glacier 3, Helena Capital 2

HELENA — Abby Schrade led a strong attack at the net with 23 kills as Glacier topped Helena Capital (6-13, 3-5) in Western AA play 25-13, 11-25, 25-27, 25-22, 15-6.

Glacier (12-10, 2-7) won the first, fourth and fifth sets.

Capital beat Glacier last month 3-2.

Glacier is back on the court today at 1 p.m. at Helena High.

The Wolfpack close out regular-season action next week, at home Tuesday with Missoula Hellgate and at Missoula Big Sky on Thursday.
