Conservative activist James O'Keefe will speak in Bigfork

| September 2, 2015 9:00 PM

James O’Keefe, the conservative activist best known for running video stings against liberal causes, will speak in Bigfork on Thursday, Sept. 10.

O’Keefe’s investigations with Project Veritas have become part of the national conversation, including his sting of the community organizing group known as ACORN in 2009.

O’Keefe used hidden cameras to record ACORN employees apparently encouraging potential clients how to break a variety of laws involving human smuggling, tax evasion and more.

O’Keefe has also targeted Planned Parenthood, public education, labor unions, NPR, Medicaid, Organizing for America, state election divisions, and more.

In 2014 he dressed up as Osama bin Laden and crossed the U.S-Mexico border in Texas “to show that our elected officials were lying to the American people” about the border being secure.

This year, he has announced that he has undercover footage of the Hillary Clinton campaign, and wrote, “Stay tuned, Hillary, because we’re shortly going to release a stunning story of electoral malfeasance at the highest levels of your campaign.”

In 2013, O’Keefe published “Breakthrough: Our Guerilla War to Expose Fraud and Save Democracy.” He is the recipient of the Robert Novak Award for Journalistic Excellence, has been named “Fox News Power Player of the Week” twice by Chris Wallace, and was placed on the Forbes 30 under 30 for media moguls.

The appearance at the Crossroads Church in Bigfork starting at 6:30 p.m. is sponsored by Stand Up America and the Glacial Forum, two groups affiliated with retired Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely of Bigfork.

Tickets cost $20 per adult or $5 for those 18 and under. Reservations are required.
