Story of son's possible demise varies

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office found that a man was OK after his mother reported that he had been tied up and shot in the arm a month and a half earlier. The mother then changed her story and told dispatchers that the son had been stabbed. The mother was concerned her son might be found in a shallow grave.

Alleged horseplay went a little too far when a man called to report that he was punched in the stomach and charged by someone with a knife on U.S. 2. The injured man told deputies he was unsure if he wanted to press charges. Authorities were unable to immediately locate the suspect.

A truck was stolen from U.S. 2 in Kalispell and headed toward Bigfork on Montana 35. The owner said the 1990 Chevrolet had a camper shell on the back with the door stuck open, and a lawn mower inside. An unloaded shotgun and pistol were inside at the time of the theft as well.

Deputies upped patrol on U.S. 93 after a person reported that a male subject keeps parking in a family’s driveway at 1:57 a.m. and leaving after a while. A week earlier a family member’s truck was allegedly firebombed, and the family put up game cameras to identify the culprit. A deputy located a vehicle matching the description of a car photographed by a game camera, but was unable to catch up to the vehicle.

Deputies counseled two ladies who were in a dispute over an easement on Bear Cat Trail in Marion. One of the women threatened to shoot another. A surveyor was scheduled to examine the property the next day.

Columbia Falls Police responded to a report of a landlady who keeps trying to kiss a renter. The renter reported a similar incident a day earlier. The landlady was also allegedly making two young children at the residence uncomfortable. Officers advised the renter about legal options.

Bar staff decided to not press charges after a man allegedly stole alcohol from the establishment and stashed it outside. Workers said the man had a seizure at the bar a day prior to the incident, and when staff refused to serve him alcohol, the suspect stole the booze.


The Kalispell Police Department provided a woman an identity theft package after she received a letter in the mail saying she owes taxes. The Internal Revenue Service told the woman it was a scam. The woman was worried that the person who sent the letter has her personal information.

A bicyclist in Kalispell was allegedly hit by a car and told the driver “you should be watching what you are doing” before he drove off. There were no damages to the car. The driver said the man on the bicycle appeared to be drunk.

A mother reported that cars were speeding near her son’s bus stop on Denver Avenue. She was worried the children might be hit when they exited the bus.


Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials were put in touch with a Lincoln County woman who had to put her ducks in a pen to keep them away from black bears that had been hanging around. She was worried about the ducks’ safety.
