Prayerful sign not a crime

Columbia Falls Police advised a caller that it was legal for an elderly woman to stand beside Railroad Street holding a sign that says, “Pray for the children.”

Texters said they were just kidding when they sent threatening messages to a woman. She said that she received a text stating that the sender of the message intended to kill her and her family. A week prior to the incident, she received a message saying someone was going to gut her son like a deer.

Children were reported running through the alleyways near an apartment complex for the elderly on Seventh Street. The caller was worried they might break into vehicles at the complex.


Kalispell Police officers tried to locate a pickup truck after it was reported that a young child was hanging out of its back window and holding on to the leash of a dog riding in the truck bed.

A man claiming to be an ex-federal agent called to ask where he could store his gun while he was out of town during an upcoming trip to Canada.

A registered sex offender reported that he thought he had been molested when he got his teeth cleaned. Officers counseled the man.

A dog had to be quarantined after it bit the owner’s 2-year-old child.

A woman let her dog out and encountered a delivery man driving fast.

She told the man not to drive fast and the man said he would do what he wanted. The man took off and the woman gave chase in an attempt to obtain a license plate number. The man allegedly pulled out an AK-47 and told the woman that he was making deliveries. Law enforcement was able to confirm a man with the same name and a similar vehicle works for a local delivery company.


Whitefish Police told a resident that it was not illegal for a camper to be parked outside a Fourth Street residence unless it was parked there for more than 24 hours.


A Libby resident reported that someone attempted to break into a vehicle and left a screwdriver in the door.

A Libby husband and wife were transported home by police after getting into an argument because the husband took the wife’s debit card without her permission. He headed to the casino and she chased him down.
