Troy celebrates 100 years with apple pie bake-off

| September 5, 2015 9:00 PM

The city of Troy is planning a centennial celebration from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, on the lawn of the Troy Museum.

The Troy Farmers Market and the Yaak Valley Forest Council, in partnership, will honor Troy’s fruit tree heritage with an Apple Festival. Enter your best apple pie into the bake-off contest and sample fresh apple cider during a community cider pressing (Bring a jug to take some home.).

Kids can enjoy crafts and games and individuals can pick up local produce and wares from Troy Farmers Market vendors.

And because apples are a favorite of not only the Troy community, but its bears too, come see how easy and affordable electric fencing can be and enter to win a fencing equipment and design package. You can also come practice your bear spray skills on a moving target that you won’t want to miss.

If you would like to donate apples to the community cider pressing or if you would like help picking them, for more information about the festival, apple picking help or volunteering and apple pie contest details, email shawna@yaakvalley.org
