Road encounter results in sore nose

A man told Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies that he was punched in the face during a road rage incident on U.S. 2 near Columbia Falls. The injured man was hit by another man who was carrying a holstered gun on his hip. The gun was not used in the assault. Deputies located the suspect.

A woman reported that she had a no-contact order against her ex-boyfriend who is housed in Flathead County Detention Center. She decided to drop the no-contact order but then received threats from the man’s current girlfriend. The girlfriend, located in Washington, told the woman she intended to beat the woman down. The woman was told to contact the judge who issued the no-contact order.

A friendly loose peacock was reported on Conrad Point Trail in Lakeside. Authorities put the caller in touch with an animal rescue group.

Threats were made against a family on Hidden Lane. A man claimed he would punch a member of the family in the face and shoot them. The woman who reported the threat said she doubted the man would follow through.

A crying elderly woman on Ranchetts Drive in Bigfork reported that her 50-year-old son threatened to hit her with a tire iron and tear a car apart. The son finished changing his tires and left the scene.

A man on Pleasant Lane in Kalispell called to report that he was being threatened by a neighbor who came over and kept tapping a gun, saying, “This isn’t going to end pretty.” A call to the neighbor’s house was answered by a woman who said her husband had told the man to leave their daughter alone while the daughter was at a youth club. The woman said her husband did have a BB gun during the conversation. She said the man had been interacting inappropriately with her 7-year-old daughter and invited the girl to dinner. The parties were advised to not have contact with each other.


Vandalism was reported on Eighth Avenue East North in Columbia Falls. A woman said someone had spread either feces or mud on mailboxes and left a used tampon on her windshield. Columbia Falls Police responded with additional patrols.


Whitefish Police investigated a report of a deer that jumped off a foot bridge and possibly broke its neck.

A man was cited after he allegedly hit a telephone pole on West Ninth Street, and continued on. A witness reported that the man returned to pick up car parts that had fallen off in the collision.

A witness was very upset after two baby deer hung around the scene of a deer/car collision. Officers were sent to remove the injured mother deer from the road.
