Robert 'Bob' John Zanon, 86

Robert “Bob” John Zanon, 86, “passed to the Lord in heaven” Thursday morning, Sept. 10, 2015, in Portland, Oregon.

Born Dec. 5, 1928, in Kalispell, he was the son of Mary & Peter Zanon.

Bob graduated from Flathead County High School in l947, served in the U.S. Army, adventured to Alaska and returned to Kalispell where he met and married the love of his life, Adele, at St. Matthews Church. Together, they spent the next 62 years building a life full of love, respect and trust.

Family and children were always at the center of Bob’s life as husband, father, coach, mentor, advisor and No. 1 fan. Bob enjoyed bowling, coaching, sports spectating, especially the Green Bay Packers and later in life, tracking his beloved “Where’s George” dollar bills.

Bob loved Montana, yet moved with Adele to Oregon in 2007 to be closer to their grandchildren to whom he passed his mastery of the art of “slapjack.”

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Adele, along with five children and their spouses, Geralyn and Fred Merrick of Kalispell; Rick Zanon of Phoenix, Arizona; Craig and Erin Zanon of Portland; Sharon Zanon

Morrison and Ben Harnetiaux of Snohomish, Washington; Scott and Sara Zanon of Beaverton, Oregon; and eight grandchildren, Ryder, Chase, Parker, Ryann, Nigel, Danika, Jacob, and Claire.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Kalispell.

Private family interment will be at Conrad Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest in peace with his parents.
