Robert Mack Cox, 79

| September 12, 2015 8:55 PM

Robert Mack Cox, 79, left us on Sept. 7, 2015, to begin a new journey. Granddaughter Mackenzie Bond said it best when she said “Papa is fishing with Jesus now.”

Bob was born on Feb. 2, 1936, to Tom and Ella Cox in Pierre, South Dakota.

After high school Bob went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Air Force as a communication systems radio operator.

Later he moved to the Seattle area where he met and married Carol Takacs. They moved on to Kalispell to raise their family.

He is survived by his children, Tom Cox, Brian Cox, Laura Thomas and Wendy Bond; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Schillinger, Judy Losea and Evelyn Holcomb; brother, Ralph, and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

His many accomplishments include high school football star, wood carver, avid fisherman and outdoorsman. His love of family and friends endeared him to all who knew him. He was always up for any adventure. “Papa Bob” had a very special bond with all his grandchildren and their friends, and was loved by all. Often times you could find him camping, hunting, or fishing with his children and grandchildren.

A private family service was held on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the NRA or American Heart Association. Thank you for all your support and for being a part of Bob’s life.

Columbia Mortuary is caring for Bob’s family.
