| September 14, 2015 4:50 PM

David Ray Loveless, 67, passed away Sept. 8, 2015, at the Whitefish Rehabilitation Facility where he was recovering from a broken hip.

David was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Kalispell to Howard “Happy” and Ruth Adams Loveless. He attended school in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School. He lived his entire life in Montana, having resided mainly in Kalispell.

He served three years in the Army and the Army Reserves and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. Later in life, David became disabled from his contact with Agent Orange that occurred during his time in the service.

David was preceded in death by his parents, “Happy” and Ruth; paternal grandparents, Albert and Iola Loveless; maternal grandparents, Bert and Mildred Adams; his brother, Howard Loveless; a sister-in-law, Ruthie Loveless; a nephew, Jay Loveless; and several aunts and uncles.

David is survived by his brother, Donald, and Faye Loveless, of Kalispell; sister-in-law, Irene Loveless, of Libby; a favorite aunt, Opal Loveless, of Polson; nephews, Randy and Kris, Robbin and Kelly, and Ryan, all of Kalispell, and Dennis and Mary Loveless of Helena; several grandnephews and grandnieces; and some special friends, Sue and Stan of Kalispell. And last but not least, he also leaves behind his special feline friend, Rocky. He also had a very loving and caring “extended family” in all the people at the Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

David had a great memory of history and especially family history. He was famous for his stories recounting events that happened long ago. He enjoyed spending time at the Upper Thompson Lake with many family gatherings there. He liked to play cribbage and was very good at the game. Even when he beat you he would always encouragingly say, “You just came in second.”

David had worked various jobs, including being a taxi driver in Kalispell. His main vocation was as a chef, having done that while in the service and again for several years for his sister-in-law Irene Loveless at her restaurant, The Ranch in Libby. David was also a longtime member of the Eagles and the VFW.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 25, at the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell. Military graveside services will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, performed by the United Veterans of Flathead Valley.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the Loveless family.
