| September 19, 2015 9:00 PM

Northwest Montana Posse of Westerners presents a program titled, “The Real Charley Conrad” by Richard L. Hardesty of Hungry Horse Monday, Sept. 21, at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, 195 Hutton Ranch Road in Kalispell.

A grab ‘n’ greet gets under way at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. and the presentation begins at 7 p.m. Non-dinner, walk-in seating will be available free to all Posse members and youth under 16, and $5 each for non-members.

Contact Janet at 755-7339 or jmonk@centurytel.net for dinner reservations.

There is a lot of misinformation on Charles E. Conrad. Was the founder of Kalispell a good and generous man or a first-class scoundrel? A conniving banker or a benevolent financier? Did he sell whiskey to the Indians or not? Did he really fight as a mere boy with Col. Mosby’s command in the Civil War or is that just a myth? This presentation will clear the air.

Historian and author Hardesty has been researching the Conrad family for several years and is well known at the Montana Historical Society and the Archive and Special Collections Department of the Mike and Maureen Mansfield Library. He had published several short pieces for the Conrad Mansion Museum. His current research is aimed at producing a comprehensive biography of C.E. Conrad. Hardesty is also a deputy sheriff of the Posse and serves as its publications editor.
