Thieves target car stickers, news boxes

A man reported to Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies that stickers from his vehicle had been stolen. When law enforcement investigated they found that only one permanent sticker was stolen.

A newspaper box was reported stolen from a Fortine business.

Deputies removed a road sign that someone had placed in the middle of Montana 37.

A man was reported hitting a woman while parked in a car outside a Libby cafe, but the couple told officers that their issues had only manifested in a verbal argument.


Columbia Falls Police touched base with the owner of a lumber yard where a man had called police because he got locked in while loading wood that he had purchased. The man was let out.


Whitefish Police Department took a report from a man who had his tires slashed in the night on Wisconsin Avenue. The man said he was making an information-only report because the city attorney believed the activity was part of an ongoing case that was being litigated. The man said he had also received threatening phone calls on Monday.

A man on Baker Avenue was counseled about shooting in city limits after he reported a bear had gotten into his garbage can. The man said he would shoot the bear if it returned because he wouldn’t allow it to destroy his property. Fish and game officials got in touch to discuss non-lethal options.


Kalispell Police responded to a local thrift store where management said a white Dodge truck has been parked next to the donation boxes for a couple of days. The keys were left in the seat of the vehicle. The truck had been stolen from Roof-Tech.

A woman at a business on U.S. 2 left work and found that two of her car’s tires had been slashed.

A man was apprehended by officers after a woman on Flathead Drive reported that her boyfriend had duct-taped her and held a knife to her. The woman said the man cut her arms and head and ripped her hair out. The man was on probation, according to the girlfriend, and “went nuts” after having one beer. Officers found that the man had a felony warrant outstanding in Washington.

Officers found a man resting peacefully on a bench after someone reported he was passed out with a computer mouse wrapped around his arm near a trail by Woodland Avenue.
