Whitefish Theatre Co. gets major project grant

| September 25, 2015 11:00 AM

The Whitefish Community Foundation has awarded a Major Community Project Grant of $25,000 for the Whitefish Theatre Company’s Act II Campaign. This is the 12th major grant funded through the foundation’s program that started in 2010 and the second time it has been awarded to a Whitefish Theatre Company project. The funding will help the theater company finish raising the $1.25 million campaign goal and meet the matching challenge it was awarded from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust.

“The Community Foundation recognizes how hard the board and staff of the Whitefish Theatre Company have worked to raise the funding for the O’Shaughnessy Center’s expansion and the important role of the center in our community,” said David Dittman, board president of the Whitefish Community Foundation. “It is an honor to help them finish this campaign.”

Act II is the second phase of the theater company’s campaign to expand the lobby, replace theater seating, add conference and office space and create additional space for rehearsals and educational programs. For 15 years the O’Shaughnessy Center, run by the Whitefish Theatre Company, has provided the community a multi-use facility where individuals, businesses and nonprofits can hold events, musical productions, films and more.
