Man makes threats, claims he's ex-Secret Service agent

Columbia Falls Police tried to find a man with dark facial hair and a large camouflage backpack who entered a business and told a person that he was an ex-Secret Service Agent with the Central Intelligence Agency. The man allegedly threatened someone and people at the business were suspicious that he might be on drugs.

Officers took a report about a suspicious person who was seen walking away from a grass fire shortly before the fire was reported on  The reporting person thought the man may have started the blaze.

A mother on Eighth Avenue East North reported that her 9-year-old son did not get off the school bus. Eventually the boy’s father texted and said he had picked the boy up without letting the mother know.

A handicapped man forgot to put his placard out we he parked in a disabled space in front of a fitness center. When officers arrived they determined the man was actually approved to park in the handicap-only space.

An officer drove along First Avenue West after a woman asked for extra patrol. She feared there might be a bear in the trees near her house because she heard growling coming from the bushes. Nothing was found.

Officers stopped a man on Eighth Avenue East North after someone reported a suspicious person in the area, which has seen several thefts recently. The man was a delivery driver.

A purse was stolen by a man on a bicycle from an unspecified address.


Whitefish Police officers were dispatched to an intersection on U.S. 93 South where a man was holding a sign saying “F Obama.” A passerby called to report the protester after he allegedly made an obscene gesture with his middle finger toward a driver.

A woman on Cedar Street called because she heard neighbors yelling and throwing things around. The woman wanted to remain anonymous and told dispatchers that “these neighbors are scary people,” before she went back in her house and said there was no need for officers to be sent to the residents.

A person called dispatch to ask about storing ammunition while on a trip to Canada.

A pull camper parked on Lupfer Avenue caused on home owner problems.  The resident said the trailer was in the way. Law enforcement said the trailer’s owners had plans to move it over the weekend.
