Man sentenced for child porn, drug possession
A Kalispell man was given a probationary sentence on Thursday for possessing child pornography and drugs in 2014.
David Berlin Trent, 39, was sentenced by Flathead District Court Judge Robert Allison to 15 years in the Montana State Prison, all suspended and was ordered to pay $1,525 in fines and court fees.
According to court documents, a tip led the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 to a cloud storage drive that contained pornographic images of children. The company that manages the cloud drive reported the images to the National Center for Missing Children, and the group alerted local authorities.
The images were of very young children in sexual positions, according to court documents. Deputies traced the images to an account owned by Trent’s wife, who allegedly told police that Trent was “very secretive” in his online conduct.
In an interview with police Trent admitted to viewing child porn at least once a week.
While serving a search warrant on Trent’s home, methamphetamine and heroin were found.
