SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Libby wins third straight, Columbia Falls rolls

LIBBY — Madisen Monigold went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and Libby ripped off its third straight win, clobbering Troy 21-2 in Western B/C conference play on Tuesday night.

The Loggers (3-1, 3-1 Western B/C) led 10-1 after three innings, then scored 11 times in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away. Libby finished with 18 hits from nine different players.

Ashley Walker tripled twice and drove in three, and Jordan Turner went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Walker, Haylee Cannon, Bailie Rosling and pitcher Khalyn Hageness all had two hits.

Hageness (3-1) worked all five innings in the circle for the win.

Kylie Carr went the distance and suffered the loss for the Trojans.

Both of Troy’s hits were doubles, including a run-scoring two-bagger from Riley Maggie.

Libby returns to the diamond Thursday at 4 p.m. in Thompson Falls for another Western B/C conference tussle.

Columbia Falls 15, Ronan 4

RONAN — The Wildkats crushed three home runs and took advantage of eight errors in a blowout Class A nonconference win.

Peyton Kehr, Morgan Campbell and Sydney Hovde all went deep as Columbia Falls scored 15 times on just eight hits. The Wildkats tallied seven runs in the sixth inning to break open a competitive game. Ronan had scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to pull within four runs at 8-4.

Campbell finished with a game-high four RBIs. Samantha Collins went 3-for-4 to pace the Wildkats attack. Kehr was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

KJ Schweikert was the beneficiary of all the offense and earned the win.

Carston Rhine took the loss in the circle for the Maidens.

Amanda Morency went 2-for-3 with a triple to lead Ronan. The host Maidens managed just five total hits in the game.

Columbia Falls opens its Northwest A conference slate Thursday on the road when they take on rival Whitefish at 6 p.m.
