Officers assist in needle disposal

A Central Avenue bartender called the Whitefish Police Department to request assistance properly disposing of a syringe that had been found.

A woman called police because she was concerned for a friend’s well-being. The caller said her friend’s husband had threatened to kill her. Officers followed up with the friend and discussed options for safely leaving the situation.

An employee at a U.S. 93 South business called to report two guns had been stolen. The employee said two young men had been looking at guns at the shop when the employee turned his back to attend to something else. When he turned back around, the suspects and the guns were gone.

A Somers Avenue resident called because she thought someone had broken into her house. The woman said she had recently dealt with a burglary, and believed the current culprits had come in through the back door. She had locked the suspected intruders in the basement and called police. When officers arrived they found nothing amiss and no one in the basement.

A Colorado Avenue resident called to report a missing juvenile. Before officers could assist, the young man had been found.

A concerned motorist called to report a reckless driver coming down Big Mountain Road “swerving all over the road.” Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.


Columbia Falls Police were called to assist a woman with her two young daughters. The girls allegedly took off on their bikes heading for a boy’s house and would not obey their mother’s requests to stop. Officers counseled all parties involved.


Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency on Ninth Street West and a structure fire on Greenwood Drive.


Kalispell Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle fire on Eighth Avenue West and another on Second Street East.


West Valley Fire Department responded to a grass fire on McDermott Lane and a structure fire on U.S. 93 North.


Ferndale Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency on Mossy Creek Road and a grass fire on Montana 83.
