| April 10, 2016 6:00 AM

Willard “Bill” Hallstrom, 76, died in his home on April 7, 2016, in Kalispell from pancreatic cancer.

Bill was born on Sept. 14, 1939, in Chatham, Michigan, to his parents, George and Annie Hallstrom.

After high school he enlisted in the Air Force and then attended school at Lawrence Technical Institute and was employed by Ford Motor Company and Detroit Diesel in Detroit.

In 1970, he moved his family to Kalispell, where he worked as a draftsman and designer for Arrowhead Construction and Jackola Engineering and later as a project manager for Northwest Fuel Systems before retiring in 2013.

Bill had many interests and hobbies, including restoring vehicles, flying, and photography. He thoroughly enjoyed Montana and always found time to fish, camp, bike, and ski. His time spent hunting with his sons and grandsons was especially dear to him. But most important to Bill were his Christian friends and his faith. He was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kristine; his children, Erik and wife, Renee, of Duluth, Minnesota; Heather and husband, Scott Lindberg, of Battle Ground, Washington; Leif and wife, Jill, of Kalispell; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by siblings, Violet and Wilbert (deceased) Maki, of Chatham; Helen and John Uskoski of La Center, Washington; Richard and Alice Hallstrom of Hancock, Michigan; Kenneth and Elizabeth Hallstrom of Chatham; and Mary Jane and John Whitmarsh of Chatham. In addition, Bill leaves in-laws Thor and Nancy Jackola, Dave and Sally Waatti, and David and Annie Tonjum, all of Kalispell, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanne and Ron Wiitanen.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. April 12, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lakeside. A viewing is scheduled at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Please visit www.jgfuneralhome.com to share condolences and sign the online guestbook.
