Columbia Falls bull rider Matt Triplett will miss the remainder of the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series season.

The 24-year-old cowboy had surgery last week on his left shoulder in Dallas. He suffered that injury at PBR event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the first weekend in April.

His recovery is expected to take six months.

Triplett missed the first nine events this year recovering from elbow surgery he had during the offseason.

He competed in just three events this season, scoring once on eight bulls.

Billings will host a PRB event — Stanley Performance In Action Invitational —Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Rimrock Arena.

Triplett was the top-ranked bull rider in 2015 during an eight-week stretch.
